Success Story: High Definition Scanning Services
Project: Scan Warren Facility for Press 17 Move

In the past, when a manufacturer wanted to move a large press like the one at our Warren facility, someone would take meticulous measurements with a tape measurer, diligently plan the route of the move, and completely map out the final resting place. With a whole lot of planning, and a little bit of luck, the move would go smoothly, with only minor inconveniences. However, things rarely went as planned, measurements would be off, collisions would occur, and all too often, people would be injured or worse. Now, we have High Definition Scanning.

The project was simple; gather as much data as possible to allow the Warren facility to complete their move project without all of the hassle of the past. That's where High Definition Scanning services come in. HDS gives us the entire picture without the weeks or months of hand-measuring every step. We see in three dimensions, measuring clearances for the route, and detecting possible collisions before they occur.

Prior to the move, we can look at the scan, manipulating the objects with highly sophisticated software, to see how the press best fits. Among the many concerns in the optimization of the space are worker safety, traffic clearance, die insertion points, maintenance access, and the machine itself. All of this can be accomplished with the data acquired through the High Definition Scan.

When moving day arrives, we have, with the help of the software and data, completely mapped out a travel route, eliminating obstacles, optimizing the best path to the destination. With minimal diversions as possible, we can be assured that the move will be completed safely and in good time, all with the help of the extensive data gained through the High Definition Scan.

The High Definition Scanning Services of Troy Design and Manufacturing has given our Warren facility all the necessary data it needs to complete their project without guesswork, in a shorter amount of time, and with less energy and cost. Most importantly, having ample data to assess risks and eliminate them, the project could, and would, be completed safely.
Update: After having assessed the complete data set provided by the High Definition Scanning Services of Troy Design and Manufacturing, the Warren facility decided that the move was not feasible in the time frame given. The Press Move project, through careful data analysis, has been put on hold, indefinitely.
